Psalm 5:3 In the morning, O LORD, you hear my voice; in the morning I lay my requests before you and wait in expectation.
Psalm 42:2 My soul thirsts for God, for the living God. When can I go and meet with God?
Mark 2:35 Very early in the morning, while it was still dark, Jesus got up, left the house and went off to a solitary place, where he prayed.
Luke 5:16 But Jesus often withdrew to lonely places and prayed.
Luke 6:12 One of those days Jesus went out to a mountainside to pray, and spent the night praying to God.
Praying alone -- quietly, and with purpose to our Heavenly Father -- is a vital, precious, and holy time. Jesus modeled this for us as he removed himself from the distractions and demands of life and prayed quietly and alone to his Father. Nowhere in Scripture do we read, "while Jesus was multitasking, he often tried to carve out a little time to pray on the run..." I know that when I have hectic days and do not have my time with the LORD, I feel a hunger to sit down and soak in His Presence as I meet with Him. Without this holy time in my day, there is a void that only quiet, prayerful time with Him can fill. This special prayer time with God replenishes us with His strength, His love, and His peace.
Dear Heavenly Father, I pray that I do not neglect my quiet prayer time with You. When I pray on the run, I know You still hear me, and I thank You for hearing all my prayers. But I feel thirsty -- thirsty for focused prayer with You. LORD, as I meet with You during this precious, holy time, I humbly ask that You refresh me with Your living water and Your undeniable Presence. I pray this all in Jesus' name, Amen.
Today is especially appropriate for a quiet time of prayer as we remember all those who died on 9.11.01.

So true Dad! I remember that day so vividly, and always will. Prayer is the best way to honor all those precious people killed that day. Love, D.
DeleteI like this one!
ReplyDeleteI'm glad it blessed you!! :)
DeleteOn September 11, visiting a memorial place with the huge steel beams which once held up the World Trade Center brings back a time of watching them fall and crumble on that day. Meeting people who knew victims at the memorial instills the power and love of God about life, which goes on with Him giving us strength. Watching and meeting with loved ones of the victims who were at the memorial brings back a connection of each individual life and what was to happen on that day. Reading a World Trade Center memorial book tells of the lives of all the victims and shows the faces of the many victims who were inside those heavy beams and are now in a safe place with God...all memories of a day years ago.
ReplyDeleteYes...being with God in a quiet place in prayer is good... God is good.
ReplyDeleteSeptember 11 is a time to remember all the people in the World Trade Center building on that day and the families. Reading all the names, seeing the tall beams and looking at all the items of love put on walls nearby shows the power of love on this day. Talking with people of loved ones and reading a boook with faces and words about the victims... brings this memorial to be a place of holy time with what happened on that day to all the lives. May the power and strength of the Love of God be with them now and forever. Love, Mom
